This project required lighting to the interior of a new residential extension. Our design brief was to satisfy the planning officers requirements for ‘bat-friendly’ lighting, along with those of the client, who aimed to ensure that the new development would have a minimal impact on the environment.
The constraint for ‘bat-friendly’ lighting was coupled with the ecologists recommendation to install tinted glazing that would minimise light spill from within the residence on to the patio and garden spaces. The Lighting People developed the interior lighting scheme to minimise lighting pollution from the inside to the outside and also modelled the effect the lighting would have on the exterior using 3D modelling software (RELux), in order to show the lighting effect.
We love working with clients that care about the environment and recognise our ability to make a difference to how we interact and live alongside nature.
